Privacy Borders on MySpace
Many teenagers at school use MySpace to talk with their friends. It is the number one place for teenagers to talk to each other. However, there is some information on MySpace that can be considered dangerous to school administrators. In this case, the administrators go on MySpace to verify if the facts are true or not. For them, it simply enforces school rules.
On the other hand, we find it an invasion of privacy. The website is used outside of school, and should remain out of school affairs. MySpace is sometime done in your spare time, such as after school and after work (for teenagers with jobs). Administrators go on MySpace just to watch what students are doing outside the campus. We think that they are just wasting their time.
First of all, almost everything posted on MySpace is not their concern. Most teenagers put up information such as what’s going on over the weekend or random gossip. Very little information pertains to things about school, let alone something negative on the subject. Second, these are activities done outside of school. Finally, teenagers would think that administrators would have more important concerns anyways.
In the end, we say that it is a waste of time for administrators to go on MySpace. We have a regular outside of school life just like they do. Most teenagers use common sense to put their accounts on private and are careful to see what should be put up. In addition, there are little warnings on top of every single comment and message form stating that people should be careful. As long as some common sense is used, the administrators would not have to worry about anyone being in trouble.
