Site Description
Kamikraze is a personal site run by Merinn. It opened on 8-26-07.
Domain Name Origin
At first glance, I thought “kamikaze” would be such a cool word to put into a domain because I’ve always liked that word. In Japanese, the word kamikaze means “divine wind”. I didn’t want to add another word, so I added one letter to make it my own, kamikraze. Kamikraze is pronounced as: kah-me-craze, or kah-meh-kra-zeh (this one is closer to kamikaze).
History
I first started making sites on Dec. 18, 2004 using Freewebs’ page builder. It wasn’t great, but better than nothing. As my HTML skills were developing more, I eventually coded things myself. However, I was running out of space and turned to Bravenet for hosting. Well, it was weird as heck trying to get used to their ways of coding and whatnot, so I resorted back to Freewebs. I was running out of space, so I went out and searched for hosting myself.
Most of the hosts were too stuck up, and didn’t reply back to my emails for hosting applications. Frustrated? Hell yeah. Then I saw a gleaming light in my path: Kylosa. It had a free hosting service with plenty of happy hostees and people out there to help you on the forums. There, I met friends and kept learning. Later on, I got Paint Shop Pro. Eventually though, it spontaneously shut down and that shining light to my problems now dimmed.
Ashley, one of my affiliates, offered me solid hosting for a year. But then one of her sites was accused to be guilty of copyright infringement, so that was the end of that. Now, I am hosted by a good friend named Vangs, and I’m pretty damn happy with the domain and hosting.
